Teachers build ed tech skills at summer conference
Published on Wednesday, July 15, 2015
About 200 NJEA members braved torrential downpours to attend the Association’s seventh annual Techstock on July 15. The daylong program offered teachers professional learning on the use of technology in instruction and the integration of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics) across the curriculum.
NJEA Executive Director Ed Richardson offered a brief keynote at lunch. He remarked on how the state’s educators spend their summers.
“New Jersey’s public school educators use their summers to learn and grow and to keep pace with the ever expanding demands of public education and the students we serve,” Richardson said.
Richardson also noted that the program is an example NJEA’s work with its partners in higher education. The program took full advantage of the state-of-the-art facilities at Stockton University in Galloway.
Participants tweeted from the event using #Techstock15.
Techstock is co-sponsored by NJEA, Stockton University, the Southern Regional Institute and Educational Technology Training Center (SRI&ETTC), and the Stockton University Master of Arts in Instructional Technology program.
